What Can Swimming Do for You?

swimmingWhen you have your own swimming pool, you get a chance to have fun with family and friends, strengthening the bond that you have together. While this is important, you should know that your pool has many more benefits than that. If you just jump in the water to cool off after a long day, you are getting more benefits from your pool than you likely realize. Swimming can give you the same benefits as regular exercise, if not more. Some doctors even recommend that their patients get a pool, because they can exercise in a low impact environment.

Swimming is good for you in the fact that it is relaxing and calming, as well as good source of exercise. If you have a particularly trying or stressful day at work, coming home and jumping in the pool can be just what the doctor ordered to help you calm down and forget about it. If you have joint or muscle problems, you can do exercises in the pool that you may not be able to do in the gym, which is an added bonus as well.

Swimming can help you shape and tone your muscles, leading to weight loss, and better physical fitness, which will boost your overall health. Swimming is a great workout for your cardiovascular system, improving the overall health of your lungs and heart. In pregnant women, swimming can help strengthen the abdominal muscles, which will be stretched during pregnancy, and will build up the arms and shoulder muscles, making it
easier to lift and carry the growing baby after it is born.

baby swimmingYou wouldn’t think that a ten pound baby would be hard to carry around everywhere, but you would be surprised. If you have muscle of bone injury, swimming can help speed up the healing process, and strengthen fragile bones and weak muscles. People who have health problems can
exercise in the water with lower chances of injury, meaning that people who ordinarily might not be able to exercise can. Exercise helps maximize your body’s systems, so that they are stronger, function better, and are more resistant to disease. Once you get your own pool, and start spending time there, you will find that you are in much better physical and mental shape than ever before.

Parents get the added advantage of spending more time with their children, since; they can’t allow them to go swimming unsupervised. In today’s busy world, parents and kids rarely get to spend the time together that they should, and swimming together is a good way to do that.

Parents can coach and help their kids refine their swimming techniques, and kids get the chance to talk to their parents about any issues at home or school that may be concerning them. Parents in turn can talk to their children about the sensitive subjects, sex, drugs, alcohol, strangers, etc.
